The instantaneous measurement of the air quality is interesting … but how to interpret the data?
The analysis of the measurement data along a given period and over a sufficiently wide area may enable to draw a global view of the environment quality and understanding of its criticality. This is indeed the role of the official agencies, but this could also be done by citizen’s initiatives even with limited resources.
After one year of data processing of the community sensors over the Toulouse area (France) correlated with the officials’ sensors, Deciphair has issued a global view and understanding of the air quality over the year 2024. The global output is presented in:
It is satisfactory to see that with low-cost sensors, one can derive positive outputs, compatible with official measurements, giving a global mapping of air quality (for particle emission) not provided by only a single measurement.
