Setting up a system in Piemonte Italy

Hi!

My name is Caitlin and we have a house in Arguello (piemonte, North Italy)

I want to try and measure the air quality in our region. But when it comes to setting up a system i see a lot of people use data from nearby stations.

For what i know. The only measure stations around us are in in the big city’s. And we are higher and more rural (600 altitude) so i think its not very practical to compare it against eachother.

We also dont have WiFi over there. I use a mobile hotspot for the internet.

Does anyone have advice how and where to start with these points in mind.

(English isnt my native language, so if something is not clear, please ask and i try to explain.)

For now im thinking;

PMS7003
ESP32
SD-module
BME280 (i2c)

SD Card to record data ?
There is a firmware for esp32 but you will need to flash with platformio.
I had some Bad experience with mobile internet router but it can work if the Provider does not restrain options.
Can you flash our esp32 firmware firstly?

Yes. SD card for now because i think it will be a pain in the ass with trying to use my mobile WiFi. Just for setting it up and getting some experience and feeling for what im doing.

I am travelling between the Netherlands and Italy and are just wondering what the air quality is in Italy because i feel like the news that the air quality is the worst in europe is not really objective. The weather stations are only in the bigger city’s.

Our home is at 600m altitude and is more rural so for now just getting some data over a year span and comparing it to the data in the city’s seems like a cool project. (But i dont know, if i can set my system up right, without any good comparison nearby)

In the meantime i can find ways to get a stable internet connection. And set up a good connection for live feedback.

I think i should be able to flash it. (With the help of the internet offcourse) But first; i need to order everything.

The suggested setup is the work of chatgpt, and i notice that chatgpt isnt always accurate (or, i dont give the good script, but either way.) I first need to investigate if this is a good starting point.
