as I’m promoting the community already since many years, I would like to suggest to register the instruments and assign a globally resolvable persistent identifier (PID). We would use the European Service B2Inst ( B2INST ) with a dedicated community to host the metadata. Only metadata already available in the archive would be used. For the scientific process a PID would support the communication and (re-)use of the data. The PID would be linked to the sensor-id and the maintenance of the PID metadata is done automatically.
