Looking for suggestions on Particle sensors with independent channels of PM1.0, PM2.5 & PM10

Hello guys,
I have joined in the community just a minutes ago.
I’m looking for suggestions on Particle sensors which provides the data on MC & NC of PM1.0, PM 2.5, & PM10.
Previously, I have worked on Sensirion SPS30, Cubic PM2008_M, Cubic PM2012SE_R, Plantower PMS9003. I had problem working all this sensors.

Sensirion SPS30 - Giving a good of only PM2.5 and the remaining channels of PM4.0, PM10 are giving the same exact values of PM2.5.

Cubic PM2008M_M & PM2012SE_R - These sensor are showing 0 for every channel when ever the concentration is < 80-90 µg/m3, and also some wierd sharp raise in the MC of PM for every 2 hours shift.

Plantower PMS9003 - This sensor it is showing all PM values as 0. I have bought four of them all showing the same readings.

I would request your help in suggesting me some good particle sensors which provides a good data on PM and all channels working indepently to each other.

Best regards
Rahul

Are you on a budget? The device you are requesting won’t be cheap

have you tried this ?

Hello pjg,
Thank you so much on your suggestion.
I have little more to ask you, from based on your experience and knowledge what will be your comments on these sensors Plantower PMS7003 and PMS6003 and Honeywell Particle sensors.

Best regards
Rahul

Hello metron6,
Firstly, Thank you for your suggestion.
No, I haven’t tried it yet, but people have the same complaint as SPS30, It wasn’t providing right data for PM4, and PM10.

Yes, I’m on budget.
Actually, I’m working as an intern in a start-up company and I need provide them with a particle sensors that is good and costs between 40-50 EUR.

My sensors are more expensive than that but good. The Next PM was/is tested on a large scale by AtmoSud, the official institution for AIr Quality in the south and France and they are happy with it. See project Aircarto.

They are chinese… and already old.

Tell them that if they want to built a disruptive sensor they must hire you and use more expensive components.

Haha I think I should mention them.
I will propose them withe the two sensors you have suggested one from Piera Systems and other one from TERA Sensor.
But, before one last request from you. You have mentioned you’re working with these sensors from long time. I would like to know have faced any problems with the sensors regarding Communication on UART and I2C and are the sensor channels of PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10 are really independent and not the calibration of one channel. Just share your experience, please.
Thank you in advance.

See manual SPS30 (also for SEN5X and SEN6X)

If I remember well the NextPM mesures the different PM Types independently.
The IPS7100 mesures PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 and extrapolate all the other values.

I have to check the datasheets.

I like the NextPM more because there are quite a lot of possible configurations, basic UART and a heating system againt humidity (It can be deactivated if I remember well). And I wrote a beautiful lib myself.

The IPS7100 have also tho advanced features but the way the data is transmited is strange (it is some text…).

Please check datasheets also. You can find them easily on internet.

Hello pjg,

Based on your suggestion i have bought a Tera NextPM sensor and I’m facing an issue with sending commands to the sensor, I’m able to read the readings but the readings from the sensor are continuous when i tried to give a command to read the average reading for 10s, 60s or 900s, the sensor is not able to provide an average instead it’s still giving continuous readings.

I need your help here, please.

Best regards
ARa

Please send me the code. The values for each mean are continously updated
