LIFE span of the SDS011 sensor

My sensor is almost running for 3 years now.
In the status page of the sensor it has a date mentioned.
In my case 17 aug 2021.
Is that the eol of the sensor?
My sensor housing is indoors with a oled display.
The tube to the SDS011 and BME280 are outdoors off course.
If I replace the sensor with a new one, can this be done without any problem?
The Nodemcu is still doing a good job.
I just swap the SDS sensor and that’s it or do I have to re-register?
The Nodemcu chip ID will not change since I will not replace the Nodemcu.

Any advice would be appreciated,

In the status page of the sensor it has a date mentioned.

Can you send a picture of this? I have never seen it. Maybe it is a new implemented function… What do you call the “status page” ?

The tube to the SDS011 and BME280 are outdoors off course.

How long is the tube ?

You can easily replace the SDS011 and nothing will change.

Tube is about 20 cm
Here’s a screenshot with the SDS and the date mentioned

If you log onto the sensor via the IP adress it is on the status page

OK found !

In the firmware:

and

It is a firware date in the firmware of the SDS itself but I don’t understand the purpose and why it is in the future… Maybe be you are right, it stops after this very last day…

I think a lifespan of three years is good enough.
The performance of the sensor might deteriorate after time as well as the accuraccy of the measurements.

I will replace it soon, maybe it will stop after the mentioned date.

We’ll see

@pjg @wsNoordbergum The date mentioned is in american format. So the year the firmware was build is 2017. The sensor itself should be build later than this date.
Lifetime of the sensor should be around 5 to 6 years (if it’s shutting down regularly, some SDS011 seem to have problems with that).
The SDS011 can be replaced without any further changes (no reregister, no config change)

Thanks @ricki-z !
I forgot the ISO date…
